Cold Call Supplier Scam
On 23rd August, Mr Li called asking if I had a room available for teachers from Hwa Chong and suggested meeting at the school on the 26th to discuss rental requirements with the principal. When I enquired how he got my number, he claimed the principal referred him but didn’t provide a name. He texted the school address without specifying the building, and when I asked for his full name and department to inform security, he told me not to worry and just to mention I was meeting 'Teacher Li'

On the morning of the 26th, Mr Li called again, this time asking if I could help source a latex mattress, claiming he urgently needed it for a hostel inspection that day. He offered me a commission for liaising with a supplier, but I declined. I didn’t attend the scheduled meeting, and when I called at the appointed time to confirm my suspicions, he didn’t answer, confirming he was likely a scammer.
