Cold Call Supplier Scam
"Chen Tao" called me, claiming to be from SGH, and said he had five ambulances that needed repair. He asked for the boss's contact, so I sent him the boss's name card. The next day, he called the boss, asking him to order 50 mattresses, offering us a $20 markup per mattress and urging for next-day delivery. He promised to pay in cash once the items were received. He even scheduled an appointment to meet us at SGH.
We realised it was a scam before meeting him. The telephone number on his name card was +65 6222 3323, while SGH’s actual phone number is 6222 3322. The name card listed "Duties: Person in Charge" instead of a proper designation. Additionally, the email address was "enquiries@raffleshospital.com" instead of an SGH email. This is when we realised it was a scam.
