Beware of Bulk Purchase Orders scams

Phishing Scam Impersonation Scam
We are a group of muralists, and Mr Zhang, claiming to be a teacher from "Zhonghua Secondary school", said there were five walls that needed painting and arranged a site meeting for a briefing. It seemed odd that he made multiple calls on a Sunday to set up the meeting. Then, just hours before the agreed meeting, he called and insisted I help him purchase 50 mattresses for a school donation to an old folks’ home. He claimed he was too busy to place the order himself (yet made the effort to repeatedly call me) and gave me the contact of his 'appointed' vendor to make the purchase. When I called the vendor, they seemed to know exactly what my purpose was.

I found the situation suspicious, as schools typically use approved vendors, and I am not an appointed supplier. I called the school to verify, and they advised me to report it to the police. Meanwhile, both Mr Zhang and the mattress supplier kept calling, pressuring me to complete the order. I blocked both numbers, but a lot of time was wasted.
