Phishing Scam Impersonation Scam
I received a call from "+65 8925 4894". As it was an unknown number, I asked the caller to identify himself. He insisted I guess who he was. I mentioned a contact's name, and he claimed to be that person, saying he had recently changed his number and asked me to update it.

At 12:15 PM today, he contacted me again, seeking assistance to update his PayNow number via Digi Bank. I sent him a screenshot of the steps. Later, he called back, saying he had updated his number but needed to wait until 6 PM to transfer funds. He urgently needed to transfer $4,000 to his supplier and asked for my help to transfer the money, promising to return it after 6 PM once his PayNow was activated. I told him I didn't have that much money, and he said $2,000 would also work. When I replied that $2,000 was also unavailable, he asked how much I could assist with. I mentioned I wasn't sure if I had enough for $1,000, and he said $1,000 would be fine.

At this point, I suspected a scam and told him I needed to check my bank balance before I could help. I decided to file a report online and have just submitted it at https://www.scamshield.org.sg/report/. I also plan to file a police report to prevent him from scamming others.
